Instaclustr Managed Apache Cassandra and Apache Spark™ Now Available on Google Cloud Platform

Instaclustr is pleased to announce immediate beta availability of our Managed Cassandra and Spark offerings on the Google Cloud Platform. Instaclustr is the leading provider of Apache Cassandra and Spark as a managed service with over 6 million node-hours of experience managing these technologies on Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and IBM SoftLayer.

Instaclustr’s expansion to the Google Cloud Platform mean that customers wanting to take advantage of the unique and compelling features of that platform now also have the option of using a proven, robust and secure Apache Cassandra managed service. By having Instaclustr take care of managing their Cassandra and Spark clusters, GCP users can:

  • Automatically provision new Cassandra and Spark clusters of any size in minutes and use automated processes to scale these clusters through adding nodes and data centres;
  • Be assured they are using well-tested and optimised Cassandra configuration for the GCP environment;
  • Have access to the monitoring tools that they need, as application owners, to understand the performance of their Cassandra and Spark environments; and
  • Most importantly, have their cluster looked after by Instaclustr’s world-class 24×7 support team (including regular maintenance tasks such as backups and repairs, responding to monitoring alerts and answering your queries).

The beta release of Instaclustr on GCP offering includes all major Instaclustr features, including the ability to run instances in Instaclustr’s GCP account (with pricing inclusive of all infrastructure costs) or in a customer’s GCP account. The release is also available in all GCP regions. During the beta period production SLAs will not apply unless explicitly agreed with Instaclustr.

We are currently on working on detailed benchmarking and expect to publish more information as we approach the general availability release of the offering. However, initial benchmarks compare well to benchmarks for similar priced offerings on the other platforms.
